DIY Egg Carton Easter Chick

What you will need:

* Paper Egg Carton

* Yellow Paint

* Black Magic Marker

* Yellow Construction Paper

* Orange Construction Paper

* Tape

* Glue

* Candy of your choice (must be small enough to fit inside egg cups)

Directions:

1. Cut two egg carton cups out of the egg carton.  Then cut about 1/2" strip of the yellow     construction paper and attach with tape to the egg cartons to act as a hinge. 

2. Next paint the cups and paper attachment yellow. This make take two coats. Then let 

    it dry and put aside.

3. Cut out two pieces of 1x1/2" strips of yellow construction paper and also cut two pieces

    of 1x1/2" strips of orange construction paper. Fold a 1/4" flap on each of the strips of 

    paper (both orange & yellow) so you will fold 4 in total to have 4 flaps.

4. Next you will cut those 4 strips of construction paper into triangles from the flap as 

    shown above.

5. Glue one yellow triangle flap on the inside of the bottom cup of your egg cups. (Glue

    one on each side) Next glue one orange flap on the inner bottom (Front) of your egg 

    cup. Glue the last orange flap on the inner top (front) of your egg cup. (Shown Below)

.

6. Cut your own version of chicken feet out of the orange construction paper and glue to 

    the bottom of your egg cups. (front - as seen below)

7. Put your egg cups together and draw eyes with your black magic marker and ta-dah

    You have your own Egg Carton Chick!! Fill with candy of your choice.

This makes a perfect little treat for the kids to give out at Easter for school parties.

A very inexpensive treat that you and your child can do together!!

Easy Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe

Chocolate Covered Strawberries - Easy Recipe

What you will Need:

* 2 Cups (18-20) Medium to Large Strawberries

* 1/2 Cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips or White Vanilla Baking Chips

* 1 Teaspoon Shortening or Vegetable Oil

Directions:

1) Gentley rinse strawberries then dry on a paper towel. **The strawberries must be 

    COMPLETLEY dry**. 

2) Line a cookie sheet with wax paper.

3) Using a 1-quart saucepan, melt your chocolate chips (or white vanilla) & shortening 

    (vegetable oil) over low heat. Make sure to stir frequently. When chips are completely

    melted, remove from heat. (**NOTE- I used both chocolate & white vanilla mixes)

4) Dip the lower half of each strawberry into your chocolate (white vanilla) mixture. 

    Make sure to allow all excess mixture to drip back into the saucepan. Now place your

    dipped strawberry onto the wax paper lined cookie sheet.

5) Refrigerate uncovered for about 30 minutes (until the mixture on the strawberries is

    firm or you are ready to serve). 

6) Store any uneaten portions in the refrigerator so the chocolate does not soften.

    If made with vegetable oil, the chocolate will soften more quickly at room temperature

DIY Printable Butterfly Valentines

Make your own Butterflies for Valentine's Day

If you want something quick, easy and inexpensive for your child to make for Valentine's Day, this is the DIY project for you.

I thought these were a cute idea for a child to make to take to school for Valentine's Day. It is fun, easy, personalized and inexpensive!

What you will need:

• Colored Paper
• Scissors
• Suckers (of your choice)
• Tape
• Stickers (Optional)
• Wiggly Eyes (Optional)
• Marker

You will need to download this free butterfly template.

Butterfly Valentine Template

After you print your template onto your colored paper, cut them out around the lines.

On the template you will see two marks in the middle. Fold your butterfly template over evenly and make slots for your sucker with your scissors on each mark. 

After you have made the slots, unfold template and insert your sucker.

 Now it's time to decorate your Butterfly Valentine! Put your wiggly eyes on the sucker and place stickers or use a marker to draw on the butterfly wings with any decorations of your child's choice. Place a piece of tape on the back of the butterfly where the sucker goes through the template. This just keeps the sucker secure.

DIY Homemade Playdough

Everybody loves play dough. I know as a kid that was the first thing I would go and play with. Here is a simple recipe for it and is a great project for you and your child to do together!

What you will Need:

1 Cup Flour

1/2  Cup Salt

2 Teaspons Cream of Tarter

1 Teaspoon Cooking Oil

1 Cup Water 

Food Coloring (Color of your Choice)

What you Need to Do:

• In a heavy saucpaan mix all the ingreidents.
• Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly for approx 3 minutes or until mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan. (It will look like mashed potatoes.)
• Remove from the heat and let cool for 1 minute. Next you should knead the dough until it has a soft, smooth texture.
• This homemade play dough can be stored in for several weeks in airtight containers. 

I hope you enjoy this project. The play dough that I made kept for almost 2 weeks!! We made 4 different colors (red, blue, green & yellor) so the kids each had their own. 

And just in case you are wondering what Cream of Tarter is, just look at your local grocery store in the spices aisle/section.

How to Make Your Own Slime

There is just something about slime that kids love (some adults too)!! Here is a recipe for a DIY slime that you and your children can do at home. This slime is very easy to make and once you are finished will give your kids hours of fun time play!!

Supplies Needed:

• Large bowl 
• Small bowl 
• Measuring cup 
• Measuring spoons 
• Fork (for mixing)
• 4-oz bottle of white school glue 
• Warm water
• Blue food coloring (or color of your choice)
• Glitter 
• Borax (Available at most stores)

Instructions:

1. Pour the full bottle of glue into the large bowl.

2. Mix in half a cup of water. (Hint: You can also just fill the glue bottle with water to make sure you have equal parts of each)

3. Add food coloring and stir. (I used two drops for a snowy light blue)

4. Stir in as much glitter as you like. (I love sparkle, so I used a lot)

5. Pour one cup of warm water into the smaller bowl and mix in one teaspoon of Borax.

6. Add the Borax mixture to your larger bowl one tablespoon at a time, mixing and kneading as you go, until the slime is the perfect stretchy consistency. (I ended up using three tablespoons)

7. When you're done for the day, store your slime in an airtight container.

Note: Borax is not safe to eat, so make sure your kids wash their hands after playtime!
